Tilehurst Panthers StripesX - XWargrave Girls Cobras

Much better game to watch this time, after a frustrating first game. We lifted our heads and wanted to improve from the first game.

The girls kick off well, we still were a bit messing on our passing and we dive into tackles to early.
We had chance after chance, a few air kick and miscontrol in front of goal.
Darcy open up the score line when she dribbled it passed a few Wargrave players and fired it into the back of the net, next one came from a get 1-2 play from Keira L & Darcy, which she then placed into the bottom corner.
We had chance after chance, shots from everyone seem to go just wide, hit the post or be saved by the goalkeeper.

After the matches today, we need work on playing the ball around the players in the box, and drawing them out. As we've found a lot of teams like to play very defences with us.

Another good win for the stripes against Wargrave, which sets us up nicely for the Cup final in April .

Our last 20 min Cup game of the Spring cup-

Today just wasn't our day for shots and overall passing play.
We kept shooting here, there and everywhere, trying to pick up an opportunity. The stripes found it hard to pass it around the 5 players that were in the box & when we had an opportunity it was saved by the keeper.

Overall we didn't play too bad, the ball was mostly in AFC Reading's half and only a few times did it break through our half.

TPFC V TPFC !!
Fourth 20 min cup game of the group league.

We changed our formation quite a lot for this game. It saw Darcy (GK) Maria (D) Denise (LM) Lara (CM) Keira L (RM) Ella & Keira M (S).

We didn't hold our positions really well for this game, I may to be blamed, but a great game to watch.
Good quality from both teams & great banter from all the girls.

Maria open the scored first with a great finish outside the box. She check up and then realised the GK and defences weren't in front of goal and shot into the back of the net.

Next one was Ella who really deserved this goal, as she's played great in both games. She was always putting the pressure on, getting stuck in and showing her strength.
Her goal was made from Maria, Keira L and Keira W who played some lovely passes between them & passsd to Ella behind the defences, which allowed Ella to turn around the keeper and put it into the back of the net.

Well done girls & to the Reds for a great display of football.

Thatcham TownX - XTilehurst Panthers Stripes

Third 20 min cup game of our group stages was against Thatcham Town Blues. A strong, physical side, who are the only team to score against us this season.

We kick off the match and put the pressure on straight away. Playing most the game in their half, we had many opportunities to score, but shots went wide or the GK saved them.
We were dominating possession and was causing quite a lot of trouble for Thatchams Defences. Finally a lovely solo run by Maria, taking it past 3 players, saw her run on to the left-hand side & score with her left foot!!!! (Amazing)

Next goal came from Darcy, after an exchange of passes from Darcy, Maria and Keira W. Darcy drived to the left side and shot right into the bottom left-hand corner.

Great game to watch from the whole team, our passing from defences to attack was brilliant, but we struggled to find the back of the net at some times.

Tilehurst Panthers StripesX - XThatcham Tornadoes

Our second group cup match in the Spring Cup.

This game started brilliant, we were pressing the ball forcing Thatcham to make mistakes in their half. Which gave us opportunities to pass the ball wide and attack the goal.

Our first goal came from Keira W, which was shot at the GK who mishandled the ball and went through her legs into the net.

Second goal came from a brilliant Solo run from Darcy, who turnt it around 3 players and brought it to her right side, shot and placed it into the left bottom corner.

Third goal was a penalty, which was given due to a hand-ball in the area. The Penalty was taken by Maria, who place the ball to the left side, under the goal keeper.

Fourth goal was scored by Maria, who played 1-2 with Darcy and the passed the Keira W, who ran crossed it into the box and then played it out to maria, who smashed it in the goal.

Our finally and fifth goal was scored by Keira L.
The ball was ran down the left side by Darcy and then passed to Keria W, who was outside the box. Then played an excellent cross right in front of the Thatcham keeper, who went to collect the ball, but before that Keira L made an excellent run into the box, got a touch to the ball and went over with the keeper. Which then rolled into the net.

We were a bit sloppy this game, we were more focus on scoring then playing good football, which even the girls agreed with.

Player of the match went to Maria, for some great forward runs, pressing, passing and also goals too.

Well done girls.

This was our first 20 minute group cup match for the Spring Cup, which was against Wargrave Cobra.
The girls were told to keep he pressure on at all times and win each ball in the oppositions half.

The game started with Keira W (GK), Keira L & Neve ( defences) Darcy (LM) Maria (CM) Lara (RM) and Ella (S). We started great, we made some great forward balls and done some brilliant attacking play.
We had so many chances in front of the goal, which mostly all were brilliantly saved by the goal keeper.
Finally after a brilliant piece of play from Darcy and Lara. . Maria was found open in the box and fired it into the back of the net.

We had chance after chance and most of the play was in Wargrave's half, huge credit to the Wargrave GK and defences for some great saves and tackles.

Well done girls

Tilehurst Panthers StripesX - XWokingham & Emmbrook

Stripes win despite care taker manager's incompetence

With a care taker manager in charge U10 stripes started the match against wokingham and emmbrook in great fashion. Pinning the opposition in their half and going three nil up inside the first seven minutes.

Then calamity struck!

A member of the wokingham supporters noticed that stripes had fielded 8 players. Sporting charity was displayed when wokinghams manager suggested the game be restarted.

Amidst much personal abuse from stripes supporters the game restarted, this time with the correct number of players on the pitch. The "real" first half saw stripes continue winning challenges and making great passes but only rewarded with two goals due to the defensive and goalkeeping efforts of w & e.

The second half was preceeded by several counts of stripes players on the pitch to the amusement of everyone but the care taker manager.

Stripes quickly extended their lead and the keeper made two timely interventions to maintain a clean sheet. The second half also saw the move of the match where four passes on a counter attack led to mazza passing the ball into the net from twenty metres out.

Solid performances all round saw stripes close out five nil. Additional clarification on the score is being sought due the clear numeracy issues with the care taker manager.

Tilehurst Panthers StripesX - XThatcham Tornadoes

After a few weeks of games being cancelled I was very glad that the girls finally play a match. We played against Thatcham Tornadoes a team we beat in the final in November.
Only having 7 players for today it was going to be a tiring one.

We started strong and was playing some great passes and runs down the wings. We had so many chances, but credit goes to the TT GK for making some great saves.

Our first goal came from Maria after receiving the ball from the middle from Darcy, she took it down the right side, taking it passed two players and played the ball straight into the middle to Keira W who placed it into the bottom corner.

Second goal was some lovely play, from defensie to attack. Neve got the ball and ran it half way up the right wing and played a lovely pass to Maria, who fired it into the back of the net.

HT- Girl were playing well, but they missed some enthusiasm and some fire in the box.

Third goal came from a lovely cross (shot) from Lara after a great run from defence into the right corner of the box. It went straight in front of goal and Keira W Followed it in.

Fourth goal was also from Keira W who again followed in another shot this time from Darcy (off the keeper)) into the back of the net .

Our final goal came from Darcy who definitely deserve it after a great game. She made a great solo run, passed three TT defenders and played it into the back of the net passed the goal keeper. Great way to celebrate her birthday.

Was a great game to watch & the standard of the football was awesome.

Well done to all the girls.

Huge well done to my U10 Stripes today, went against Wargrave Pythons.
Played absolutely fantastic, with some greats run, passing and moving. One massive factor against us today was Wargrave playing their first team keeper in goal, which stop us exceeding our victory, but that didn't stop Tilehurst from playing some great football & having some fantastic chances

Some awesome goals from both Maria & Ella today. Very unlucky not to get more.

Well done girls, great way to end for the Christmas holidays.

Tilehurst Panthers StripesX - XThatcham Tornadoes

After having a few rocky weeks of football, we were unsure what the score line may be, but after a great training session Wednesday. We all looked forward to Saturday Cup Final.

Thatcham Tornadoes are just one team that really want to beat us & they're have been training very hard to do so.

We started of the game very strong applying loads pressure and pushing forward with our attack. We looked comfortable, we were dominating all possession and made the Tornadoes rush and play the ball out.

10 Minutes in, Darcy shot right into the bottom corner passed the GoalKeeper to make it 1-0 to us. We looked very comfortable on the ball and made plenty of opportunities to higher the score line, but credit goes to the Tornadoes GK who made some great saves.

HT- We all came to together & talked about the performance, - few words from our Captain Maria & Vice Lara and we set up again full of positivity.

Like the first half we dominated possession from Throw ins, corners & on the field of play. We made some great runs on the wings from both Maria & Keira L. Some great forward balls from Darcy, Neve & Lara, towards Ella who was doing a great job at finding space behind Tornadoes defences.
Ella was working hard finding space behind the defences, which allowed Maria to place a ball behind their defence and allowed Ella to tap the ball underneath the goalkeeper making it 2-0.

The final whistle finally went and celebration started.
Well done to all the girls, they deserve this win and have all worked very hard to get there.

After playing our first 20 min cup game, we moved onto our second cup game of the day. Which was against a Thatcham Tornadoes.

The score line was opened up in the first few minutes, when Darcy passed the ball toward Lara who ran it passed two Tornadoes players, looked up to see the GK off her line & scored from outside the box into the bottom corner.

Thatcham Tornadoes tried to make several runs down the left and right, but were stopped every time by our defence & Midfield each time.

We were sloppy with our passes on our attack, which is a shame because that's one of our strongest skills. If we were playing 40 mins we definitely would of had a better score line.

We held most the possession in their half, we were just missing the final pass to finish it. Which was a shame, but the weather did bring sprints down.

Well done to the girls. Especially under the pressure of keeping their unbeaten run.

A horrible day to play football today, with the pitches looking awful from the rain.

We took a while to get started today and I wasn't wanting a repeat of last week where we were everywhere.
It was a better improvement from last week.

Thatcham were a very physical team, who tried their hardest to push our defences and midfield.

We dominated possession in their half and probably on a better day it could have been a bigger score line.

After 10 minutes of a very physical fight against Thatcham we finally scored a goal from a corner delivered from Maria straight to Keira L who smashed it right into top corner.

This was our 2nd 20 minute game of the day and we faced Wargrave in the Cup.

Going into the game we were told how much Wargrave had been training to 'win' against us & the last time we met Wargrave we knew they would develop into a good team.

Tilehurst were sloppy, very sloppy. We made a lot of errors and were Lucky that Wargrave didn't thrive on some of the opportunities.
It took us a while to wake up, with Neve & Lara controlling all balls that came into our half of the pitch, they were the only ones who were switch on.

After about 8 minutes finally Tilehurst realised they needed to play football. (Maybe due to me moaning on the slide line, oops)

Darcy was the first to make the score sheet when she ran the ball through two of Wargrave's players, towards the front post. Which she then fired into the back of the net.

Like I said the game was very frustrating, but Tilehurst did dominate about all possession in their half. We were just very sloppy on our shots, passes and positioning.. Also some credits does go to Wargrave's defenders & midfielders who defended our attacks very well.

Finally after a lot of pushing and shoving Maria got the goal she deserved. She ran the ball through three of the Wargrave's players down the middle of the pitch, and fired one into the back of the net. After her countless runs, crosses and wide shots. She really did deserve her goal.

So After countless shots, finally the whistle was blown.

I hope this was a lesson to the girls and shows them they can't just show up and expect to win, they have to work hard to get the win they deserve.

Player of the match for both games today went to Neve for her amazing defending skills & for probably being one of the only players who was 100% switched on.

Well done girls.

This was our first 20 minute game of the day & we faced a team who we've only played a few times.

Tilehurst Dominated the possession and had plenty of opportunities to up the score, but fell short, with shots going wide.

Darcy opened up the game with running through AFC Reading Defence, bringing the ball to the front post, which was then hammered into the bottom right corner.

Tilehurst then woke up a little bit, with some good passing and moving to allow Ella to score. A nice ball played in by Keira L saw Ella through on goal.

After that from Kick off Tilehurst pressed and allowed Keira L to fired one straight into the bottom corner passed the GK.

A few mistake with control lead AFC Reading players some chances on goal, but were all denied by Lara & Neve in defence.

The next goals was a great combination between Keira L, Lara & Maria from a corner. Lara made the run to collected the corner short from Keira L who then crossed it into the box, who found Maria unmarked, which she fired into the back of the net.

Tilehurst Panthers StripesX - XWokingham & Emmbrook

We started with a 1-3-2 formation this week as we were confident with our unbeaten run. We started with Denise (GK), Darcy (D), Neve (LM), Maria (CM) Keira (RM) & both Keira M & Ella Up front. (Which changed after about 10mins)
We started with the ball & made a quick pass to Maria & pushed up. Maria took the ball to the left side & shot, which the goalkeeper made a fantastic save. From then we took the corner which was fired in by Darcy & was clear off the line by W&E player. This then found Ella, which she then gave to Keira M who scored.
From then on barely any balls went passed into our half.
Darcy then found the back of the net from a amazing solo dribble.
Keira W brought the ball down from a Goal Kick & fired it home.
Then Lara done some nice one two passes with Darcy which was fired into the right corner.
HT-
After half-time the girls all wanted to try nice position and formation.
Darcy open up the score within the first 5 minutes, where she went on a solo dribble against 3 W&E player down the left side scored an awesome goal.
After that the girls done some great passing through W&E defense & were unlucky not to score.
Keira W then done some great One two with Keira L and score right into the bottom left corner.
Our last Goal was somewhat luck, when Keira L was passed the ball by Darcy & smack it first time. This ball ended up flying about 10 feet in the air and going right in the bottom corner (I'm guessing the wind help?)

Overall great game, we still need to work on communication etc., but it was a great game for the girls.

Big well done to Wokingham & Emmbrook especially the GK who made some awesome, near impossible, saves in the first half.

Well done all.
